Poso Police have sent the bodies of fellow officers First Brig. Andi Sappa and Brig. Sudirman, who were found dead in Masani village, to their families.

Senior official from the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Brig. Gen. Rudi Sufahriadi, on Wednesday led a military ceremony in respect of the two officers who were found dead after being missing for six days.

The National Police also awarded posthumous promotions as the officers died in the line of duty. Sudirman was promoted by one rank into Chief Brigadier and Andi was promoted to Second Brigadier.

Andi’s body was returned to his hometown Takalar, while Sudirman’s was returned to Palopo, both in South Sulawesi, for burial.

Andi and Sudirman had been investigating several recent shooting cases in Poso, kompas.com reported. On Monday, Oct. 8, both of them attended a get-together in Tamanjeka hamlet in Masahi village, but they did not return to their homes afterwards.

Police discovered their dead bodies, buried together, after a six-day search.

Police believe the violent attack against the two officers was well prepared as no evidence has been found at the crime scene. (cor/lfr)
