Menara, Challengers, GMIS CC win JCA League matches

GMIS CC continued its wipe-out spree in the matches played over the weekend in the Apple Coal JCA League 2012-13 while Menara Cricket Club & Challengers posted decent victories.

At Karawaci, a fighting century by Tim Gutsell was in vain as Menara beat Jakarta Barbarians by 4 wickets in a rain-curtailed match.

Needing 190 runs to win in 35 overs, Menara was set a revised target of 163 runs in 30 overs, which was achieved in the 27th over.

Menara was well placed at 80/1 in 11 overs, then collapsed to 89/5 in 15 overs before recovering to post 163 losing one more wicket.

Yogish Lad was top scorer with 30 runs while Deepak Khullar made 25 runs. Sam Levick took 3 wickets.

Batting first, Barbarians were in a spot of bother at 33/2 in 12 overs, before ending up with 189 runs on board, thanks to Gutsell’s century.

Gajendra Gajji picked up 4 wickets, while Rikesh and Amit picked up 2 wickets each.

At Cibubur, Challengers beat Taman Kemayoran (TKCC) by 31 runs to post their first victory.

Batting first, Challengers collapsed from 84/0 to 116/6, before a rearguard action by Ranjan Shankar (55 runs) ensured a final score of 181 runs. Vasu chipped in with 42 runs. Satish Kumar & Swaroop took 2 wickets each.

TKCC was never in the chase as it kept losing wickets at regular intervals and folded for 150 runs. Sunil Samtani took 3 wickets and Jaganathan 2 wickets.

Meanwhile, at the Gandhi grounds, GMIS CC thrashed GMIS XI by 145 runs to record its third straight victory.

Batting first, GMIS CC plundered 269 runs on the back of Sandeep Gaur’s 71 and Hanan’s 38 runs. Karthik Subramanian took 5 wickets and Raksheet took 2 wickets.

GMIS XI was all out for 124 runs. Mohit D Singh made 34 runs. Shubham Patni took 3 wickets.

GMIS CC leads Group A, followed by Indorama and WISCI. In Group B, Ceylon is at the top followed by Bogor and Senayan.
