Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors want eight years in jail and a fine of Rp 300 million for former Riau sports and youth agency head Lukman Abbas for bribing legislators and taking bribes from private companies.

Prosecutor Riyono said if Lukman refused to pay the fine then he should spend another four months in jail.

Prosecutors are convinced that there is enough evidence to prove Lukman guilty as charged.

Lukman will present his defense statement at the next session.

Lukman had earlier admitted to have given Rp 900 millions of bribes to local legislators and Rp 9 billion to lawmakers at the House of Representatives (DPR) in return for granting additional funds for the 2012 Riau National Games (PON) venue construction. (dic)
