Simalungun Police officers have arrested an individual identified only as SS, whose alleged reckless driving caused his bus to fall into a river, claiming the lives of seven passengers and injuring 17 others. The passengers were SMA students who were on route to attending a training camp.
Simalungun Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Syariful Taufik said the driver was arrested in Pematang Siantar, a neighboring town, on Friday. He said the driver had been brought to Simalungun Police station for further questioning.
“It's likely that SS will be named the single suspect in this case,” he said.
Andi said that before the accident, some passengers had warned SS about his reckless driving. The accident claimed the lives of seven Senior High School students from several schools. (dic)
