TIM to be revitalized

Jakarta governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has announced that the city would revitalize Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), with  Rp 469 billion (U$ 48 million) ear-marked by the administration for the project, work will start this year.

“We expect to complete the project in two years time, spending Rp157 billion in the first phase and the rest of the budget in the second phase,” Jokowi said during a visit to TIM, accompanied by head of the city library and archive body Anas Effendi, on Saturday.

TIM is home to some of the city’s educational facilities including a planetarium, art theaters and the Jakarta Art Institute. The city administration’s annual budget is Rp 46 trillion, the largest portion is allocated to education.
