Indonesian Military (TNI) headquarters has announced its intention to replace Diponegoro Regional Military Command (Kodam) commander Maj. Gen. Hardiono Saroso with Maj. Gen. Sunindyo, a former member of the Army's Special Forces (Kopassus), who is currently posted as the Army chief of staff’s personal assistant.

Army spokesman Brig. Gen. Rukman Ahmad said the replacement would be made official on Monday next week, tribunnews.com reported on Saturday.

Information as to Hardiono's future posting after leaving the Diponegoro Kodam is not yet available.

When asked whether the rotation had anything to do with the recent attack on Sleman Prison, which claimed the lives of four detainees, Rukman rejected the claim, adding that the move was normal following a tour of duty.

Maj. Gen. Hardiono had been widely criticized for his statement denying the involvement of the military in the Sleman Prison killings on the day after the attack.(dic)
