The parade, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., will involve more than 1,500 participants. They will march from Monas to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and then back to Monas.

“We intend to inform the people that Sumbawa and Lombok are also famous for their culture,” NTB BPPD chief Awanadhi Aswinabawa told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.

The parade will coincide with the car-free day program and will show the Lombok traditional marriage ceremony, called Sorong Serah Aji Krame and cultural music performances like Gendang Beleg, Tari Rudat, Peresean and Sakeco.

Beside the parade, the BPPD will also launch a program called “Tambora Menyapa Dunia 2013 – 2015” (Tambora Greets the World 2013-2015) on Sunday night at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry.
The program is part of the “Visit Lombok Sumbawa III: initiative that is aiming to attract two million visitors in 2015. (hrl/dic)
