Fire destroyed four buses at the Arimbi Jaya Agung (AJA) depot in Cibodas, Tangerang, early on Thursday.

Tangerang Police chief Sr. Comr. Wahyu Widada said there were no casualties and the police were investigating the cause of the fire.

Witnesses said the fire started in a bus under repair, spreading to nearby oil drums and a pile of used tires and eventually engulfing the buses.

Oji, a 40-year-old driver asleep at the station when the fire started, said he and his colleagues awoke when the fire was raging. “We couldn’t do anything but save ourselves,” he told tempo.co.

Eight engine companies dispatched by the Tangerang Fire Department extinguished the fire after two hours. (cor/iwa)
