5.8 magnitude quake jolts Jakarta

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked Jakarta on Thursday evening.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the quake was 23 kilometers southeast of Cianjur, West Java, at a depth of 163 kilometers.

The quake did not trigger a tsunami, the agency said as reported by kompas.com. (swd)
