Ex-taxman Tommy Hindratno has been sentenced to three and half years in prison and fined Rp100 million. A panel of Jakarta graft court judges decided he had taken bribes from a private company in return for leaking information about the company’s tax restitution settlement.

According to kompas.com reports, Tommy received Rp 280 million as a reward after he leaked information that could benefit PT Bhakti Investama Tbk in its effort to settle a tax restitution appeal at the tax court.

James Gunarjo, who represented PT Bhakti Investama Tbk asked Tommy for information regarding the company’s attempt to file for tax restitution of Rp 3.4 billion.  Tommy and James were apprehended by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators in the middle of last year in a Jakarta restaurant.(dic)
