Boediono to attend S. Korean president’s inauguration

Vice President Boediono and his wife Herawati are to attend the inauguration ceremony of new South Korean President Park Geun-hye in Seoul on Monday.

“Indonesia-South Korea relations are very strong. This year has also been declared by state leaders of both countries as the Year of Friendship, marking 40 years of diplomatic relations,” Boediono said in a press release.

The inauguration ceremony will be held at the National Assembly in Seoul.

A least 25 countries will send representatives to the ceremony.

Among them are Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Timor Lestenese Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, Japanese Vice Prime Minister Taro Aso, Australian Governor General Quentin Bryce, and Canadian Governor General David Johnston.

 South Korean ambassador to Indonesia, Kim Young-sun, when meeting Boediono on Tuesday, said that a total of about 17,000 guests would attend the ceremony which would also feature the performance by  Psy, the South Korean rapper who is globally famous for his “Gangnam Style” dance.
