Jokowi appoints new Public Order chief

Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has appointed assistant secretary for administrative affairs Sylviana Murni as Public Order Agency acting chief, replacing previous chief Effendi Annas who retired.

“I’ll do my best and I will put my heart into my work,” she said on Friday.

Sylviana said she would continue working on the programs set by Effendi but with a different approach. Persuasive dialogue and other non-violent approaches will be her priorities, but she added an affirmative approach will not be ruled out if situations go wrong in the field and require such action.
