Dwi Asih Setyani, a 21-year-old snack store cashier, was found dead in her room at a low cost apartment on Jl.Tipar, Cakung, East Jakarta, on Monday.

East Jakarta Police spokesman Comr. Didik Hariyadi said Dwi was found by her employer, Edi Ratno Santoso, 35, and a colleague, in critical condition. Her hands and legs were tied with electric wire and her mouth was gagged.

Citing Edi’s statement, Didik said Dwi died when she was rushed to the nearby Dharma Bakti clinic.

Titi, a medical worker at the Dharma Bakti clinic, said Dwi was already dead when she arrived at the clinic. Bruises were found on her hands and legs. “Her neck was also red. It seems that she was strangled,” she said as quoted by tempo.co.

Dwi’s body was brought to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta for an autopsy.

Didik said the Cakung Police were still investigating the case, with several witnesses were undergoing questioning.

Cakung Police deputy chief Adj. Comr. Supadman said Dwi was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend who used to work at the same store. The police were still hunting for him, he said. (cor/ebf)
