The administration of Mukomuko regency in Bengkulu says it is planning to give Rp 1 million to  newlyweds who agree to postpone having children.

“This program might also attract some to participate in the vasectomy program,” Farida Ariani, the head of the  Mukomuko Family Planning and Women’s Empowerment Agency (BKKBN) said on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news portal.

Men who agreed to have a vasectomy under another existing birth control program would also receive Rp 1 million, Farida said.

The program for newlyweds is slated to get underway after the office reviews its last three years of family planning data.

Bengkulu Governor Junaidi Hamsyah recently praised the regency for successful implementation of its long term contraception method (MKJP) program.(rkh)
