The national mandate party (PAN) Amien Rais main patron has rejected a recent survey showing that predicted his party would guarantee only 1.5% of the vote if the general election were carried out this year.

"By my rough calculations that we can secure at least 11 percent of the vote, God willing," said Amien Rais during a PAN leadership meeting held at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran on Sunday.

He said that thousands of PAN supporters had flocked to the meeting venue and this speculation that the party had lost its charm wiped out.

Rather the Prem Mujani Research Center issued its most recent survey, confirming that the Golkar party and the Indonesian Democratic Party of struggle (PDIP) the largest shares of the vote by securing 21.3 and 18.2% respectively if the general election were held today.(dic)
