AP II hands over health equipment to Pekanbaru

State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II president director Tri S.Sunoko handed over on Tuesday Rp 1 billion (US$18.3 million) worth of health equipment, including five ambulances and an integrated health services post (posyandu), to support healthcare services in Pekanbaru, Riau.

He said the aid was part of the company’s commitment to improve the standard of living of communities in its working area. He hoped the assistance could contribute positively to the implementation of health development programs in Pekanbaru.

“The five ambulances are the last batch of 60 emergency service vehicles we have distributed to 12 working areas of airports managed by AP II,” said Tri Sunoko.

He said health assistance the company had distributed via its environmental management program was worth Rp 14.5 billion, of which Rp 1.1 billion went to Pekanbaru.

The AP II has allocated Rp 57 million for the development of Posyandu Gerak Gempa Berbunga Serigi, which is located in Maharatu sub-district, Markoyan Damai district, not far from Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru.

“The Posyandu is specifically designed to support the health improvement program for under five-year-old children and pregnant women,” said Tri Sunoko.

Pekanbaru Mayor Firdaus expressed gratitude for the support.

“In particular for the ambulances, which will be very useful for the local communities. We [the Pekanbaru city administration] will maximize the use of the assistance to serve people better,” he said.

The five ambulances will be used as emergency service vehicles at five puskesmas (public health clinics): Garuda Marpoyan Damai, Harapan Raya Bukit Raya, Simpang Tiga, Pekanbaru City and Tampan. (ebf)
